Kazbegi, officially called Stepantsminda, is a mountain town in northern Georgia, close to the Russian border. It sits along the Georgian Military Road and is one of the most visited mountain destinations in the country.

Stepantsminda Town Stop
After visiting the church, most tours stop in Stepantsminda itself. The town is small and functional, with cafés, restaurants, and open views toward the mountains.
This is usually a rest stop. People eat, walk briefly through the center, take photos, and prepare for either the return drive or the overnight stay.
Nature Stops and Short Walks
Depending on the tour plan and season, short nature stops may be added around Kazbegi. These are usually flat or gently sloped areas near the road where visitors walk briefly, take photos, and return to the car.
Long hikes are optional and separate from standard car tours.
